AZ 1000 HPS Mount

The AZ1000 HPS mount is based on the mechanics and electronics of the GM1000 HPS and offers an altazimuthal configuration. The AZ1000 HPS is a very versatile, light and transportable mount designed especially for scientific activities such as satellite tracking, photometric and astrometric measurements, seeing monitoring and so on.

Due to its altazimuthal design, it’s necessary an optional field de-rotator (ASCOM compatible) in order to get long exposures without field rotation.

The mount is supplied with a short counterweight bar; it’s not necessary to exactly counterbalance the weight of the telescope: using counterweights for about 50% of your payload you will get a sufficient stable configuration. Most of the GM1000 HPS accessories are compatible with the new AZ1000 HPS.

Special version for solar observation, silver

This version of the AZ 1000 mount is intended for solar observers and photographers. The only difference to the "normal" AZ 1000 is the silver anodized finish, which ensures that even after hours of sun observation, you can still touch the mount without any problems, e.g. for dismantling. An AZ mount is generally a good choice for solar photography. A quick 3-star alignment at night is sufficient to set up the mount accurately enough. Thanks to the short exposure times in solar photography, AZ tracking is sufficient for most applications.

COMING SOON: AZ1000 HPS EP

– expected to be available in September –

Based on the same “Enhanced Performance” philosophy as the new GM1000 HPS EP, 10Micron has also further developed the AZ1000 HPS.
The result is the AZ1000 HPS EP mount: An even more stable, very robust Alt-Az mount for astronomical and atmospheric research, satellite tracking, SSA, Free Space Optical Communication, demanding visual astronomy.

Main innovations – and, more importantly, the advantages:

  • Extreme Versatility:
Designed to excel in a wide range of applications, from Astronomy to Weather and Atmospheric Sciences, Free Space Optical Communication, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), LASERCOM and Satellite Tracking. A "Silver" version is also available and suitable for Solar observations.
  • Speed and Precision:
Capable of pointing speeds up to 15°/sec with positioning accuracy guaranteed by HPS technology with absolute encoders.
  • Exceptional Payload-to-Weight Ratio:
+ 20% (30kg / 66lbs) payload capacity in a lightweight and easily transportable mount body.
  • Reinforced Axis:
Both RA ans DEC axes have been improved with a new design and an increased thickness. The RA diameter has also been increased in diameter. This results in an exponential increase in structural rigidity, drastically reducing vibrations and flexure.
  • New, Larger and Reinforced Bearings:
As a direct result of the new axis, the larger bearings ensure smoother movements, optimal management of the increased load, and superior longevity of the mechanical system.
  • Redesigned Worm Gear Supports:
The new mechanical housings have been optimized to integrate more robust and high-performance worm gear supports. This minimizes any potential flexure in the drive system, a critical factor for an excellent tracking.
  • Enhanced Build Quality and Manufacturing Precision:
The use of new CNC machinery and 3D coordinate measuring machines (CMM) allows tighter mechanical tolerances and consistent quality for every unit.
  • New V3 control box:
Hardware and Software improvements, leveraging modernized electronics and EU-made industrial-grade connectors for superior performance and robust, long-lasting connections.
  • Selective Sourcing of Materials:
Stricter material and component selection ensures top-tier performance and dependability.
  • Enhanced Connectivity & Web Interface:
Unique connectivity options, including a sophisticated web interface, enables comprehensive monitoring and precise adjustments without direct physical interaction.
  • Optimized for Remote Operation
  • Global Support Network
