Automated model maker for 10Micron GM mounts

Automated model maker for 10Micron GM mounts

The automatic creation of a pointing model is one of the most important functions of a 10Micron mount. A precise sky model enables outstanding GoTo accuracy as well as the renowned unguided tracking performance of 10Micron HPS mounts.

However, a pointing model can also be created entirely manually using the 10Micron hand controller. This is particularly useful for mobile setups in the field without a computer, for example when using a DSLR or mirrorless camera attached to the telescope together with a crosshair overlay on the camera display, or even purely visually with a reticle eyepiece. In this way, a precise pointing model can be built without any additional software.

Today, modern software solutions are available that automate the entire process, making model creation significantly faster, more convenient, and usually even more accurate. The two most widely used solutions are MountWizzard and N.I.N.A.

MountWizzard

MountWizzard was developed specifically for creating and managing 10Micron sky models.

N.I.N.A. (Nighttime Imaging 'N' Astronomy)

N.I.N.A. is one of the world's most popular open-source platforms for astrophotography and observatory automation. In addition to camera control, sequencing, autofocus, plate solving, and device management, N.I.N.A. also supports the automated creation of 10Micron sky models.
